What Can I Do to Keep My Car From Overheating in 100-Degree Weather?
This summer has been hot. Like, super, super hot. It can be hard to adjust for us humans, but what about our cars? The question now is... will my car overheat in 100-degree weather?
Most vehicles are equipped to deal with the heat, and though they can certainly overheat when not maintained properly, the fear of overheating is lessened when driving in a well cared for car. Preventive maintenance is the key! Make sure your oil is fresh, your cooling system is running efficiently, your tires are not over-worn, and your battery fluid is adequate. When possible, try to drive when the temperatures are cooler (mornings or early evenings), park in the shade when possible. Take care of your car and it will take care of you.
