Beat the Heat this Summer by Being Aware of How it Affects Your Car.

This has been an extreme summer of HEAT! And, this heat can be as hard on your car as it can be on you. Here are a few ways the heat works against you when it comes to your car.

1. Tire Degradation. The heat along with the scorching hot road surface amplifies the degradation of tires as the rubber of your tires and the heat of the pavement increases friction and ware, and can cause overdying and cracking. Heat also can cause the expansion of air, leading to over-inflation of tires that can imped optimal braking and may even cause a blow-out.
2. Strains Cooling Systems. Cooling systems are designed to keep our engines at a safe operating temperature. This is critical under normal conditions, but the summer makes it even more so. Make sure you have high quality coolant to prevent your engine from overheating. The heat of summer is a good time to swing by your local auto service center and just check that cooling is adequate.
3. Failing Wiper Blades. Just as the heat can degrade the rubber on your tires, so can it degrade the rubber on your wiper blades. Nothing is more annoying than when it starts to rain, you flip on your wiper blades, and it just smears across your windshield. Aggravating and definitely unsafe.
4. Causes Oil Breakdown. The summer heat leads to an increased breakdown engine oil making your engine work harder and wear down sooner. Invest in quality oil to save money in the long run.
